Located at the entrance to the Kumano Kodo Kii Route, this venerable shrine has long been visited by pilgrims seeking safe passage on their journey to Kumano. The lush shrine grounds are wrapped in serenity, offering an atmosphere befitting the beginning of a day exploring Kainan. The grounds also preserve historical materials related to the Kumano Kodo, making it an ideal place for families to begin their historical exploration. Abundant shade trees provide a cool respite from the summer heat.

Tips

Some areas of the grounds are unpaved, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Summer mosquitoes can be present, so insect repellent is advisable.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 50 minutes. Early afternoon hours offer a relatively quiet worship experience.
