About this spot

The main street of Yufuin sightseeing, extending from Yufuin Station toward Kinrin Lake. Mount Yufu (由布岳) stands majestically at the street's end, with both sides lined with walkable treat shops—croquettes, dumplings, pudding, rolled cakes—and shops selling Japanese miscellaneous goods and glasswork. Venture down the side streets and you'll find quiet waterside paths and cozy cafes, allowing you to enjoy both the bustle and tranquility. With abundant dining options, discover a restaurant that appeals to you for lunch. The real charm of this course lies in sampling a little of everything while strolling and admiring Mount Yufu.

Tips

Weekends and holidays become very crowded by late morning, so starting early in the morning is more pleasant. It's customary to return food wrappers to the shop where you purchased items; carry wet wipes for convenience. Popular lunch spots will have lines; arriving in the 11 o'clock hour is recommended.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 2 hours 30 minutes. The late morning, after shops open and before peak crowding, is the most comfortable time to walk.
