A Moai Statue Symbolizing Ogachi Watching Over Reconstruction
About this spot
An authentic-looking moai statue stands gazing toward the sea, sent as support for recovery after the Great East Japan Earthquake. Cherished as a symbol of Ogachi Town, it represents the positive steps forward by the local people. Solidly positioned in the simple landscape of a port town, the moai statue is also popular as a family photo spot. This place quietly conveys to visitors the history of Ogachi and its thoughts on revival.
