This shrine sits on a hilltop in Ogatsu and, having survived the tsunami unscathed, has become a source of spiritual support for the local community. The shrine grounds offer a calm view over Ogatsu Bay, letting you quietly sense the history of a fishing town that has lived alongside the sea. The approach, lined with trees, stays relatively cool even in summer, making it a good spot to rest partway through your walk. As a shrine with special meaning for local people, it's a place to visit quietly and respectfully.

Tips

There are slopes and stone steps, so wear comfortable walking shoes. Since this shrine is important to the local community, please observe good manners and visit quietly. The view from the hilltop also makes a great photo spot.

Best time to visit

About 35 minutes. In the early afternoon, the sea surface tends to sparkle beautifully.
