About this spot

The Takaoka Tanabata Festival in 2026 will be held from August 1-8 across the area from Takaoka Station-mae Street to Suehiro-machi Shopping Street, marking one of the three major Tanabata festivals of the Hokuriku region. The festival venue features giant bamboo decorations several meters tall, with colorful kusudama ornaments and streamers swaying from eave to eave—a summer sight quintessential to Takaoka, the metalcasting town. As evening falls and lanterns are lit, the arcades fill with families and young people in yukata, and the entire town transforms into a Tanabata wonderland. The opening day of your itinerary (August 1st) captures the excitement of the festival's fresh start.
