This historic shopping street running through the center of Hagi is lined with restaurants and food shops. It's conveniently located to grab an early bite before heading to Kikugahama, the festival venue. As evening approaches, you'll see people in summer kimono heading to the festival. On the festival's final day, August 3rd, approximately 60 food stalls line this street and Yoshida Street, creating a lively scene from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. However, on the opening day you're visiting, you'll experience the calm beginning of this festive energy.

Tips

To avoid crowds at the waterfront venue later in the evening, it's best to finish dinner by 4 p.m. During the festival period, parking lots can be congested, so consider using public transportation.

Best time to visit

Allow about 40 minutes. Before 5 p.m., shops are relatively less crowded.
