Continuing on from the white-walled townscape, Reitoro-dori Street is lined with local restaurants and shops, and also forms part of the venue for the Yanai Goldfish Lantern Festival. Having a light dinner on this street ahead of the 16:30 lighting time lets you wait comfortably for the moment the lanterns come on. As evening approaches, you may also see preparations being made to hang the goldfish lanterns, building anticipation for the festival about to begin.

Tips

As 16:30, the start of the lighting, approaches, the street begins to get crowded, so it's reassuring to finish your meal early. Since the festival runs only until 21:00, leave some margin in your schedule.
