About this spot

The Tendo Onsen hot spring district, dotted with monuments shaped like shogi pieces, is lined with restaurants and eateries loved by locals. Before heading to the streets that serve as the venue for the Tendo Summer Festival, having an early dinner here in the hot spring district lets you enjoy the evening festival at a relaxed pace. As evening approaches, more and more people in yukata heading to the festival begin to appear, and a festive mood spreads throughout the hot spring district.

Tips

The area around the venue gets crowded from the evening onward, so having dinner around 4 pm gives you some breathing room. The hot spring district has many slopes, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Best time to visit

About 40 minutes. Restaurants are relatively uncrowded before 5 pm.
