A cultural facility that restored and repurposed the former Yamagata Prefectural Government Building and Assembly Hall, built in Taisho 5 (1916), and is designated as a National Important Cultural Property. With a red roof and brick facade based on Renaissance style, it evokes Taisho-era charm, and you can tour the assembly hall and governor's office inside. As a valuable piece of modern architecture that can be viewed free of charge, it is an essential spot in Yamagata's historical exploration.
Tips
Within walking distance from Kasujou Park. Admission is free, and volunteer guides are often on-site. In summer, the building is cool, making it ideal for a visit that doubles as a rest stop.
