This is the gateway station of Higashine City where the Yamagata Shinkansen stops, and as its name suggests, its unique appearance is modeled after a cherry fruit. The building is full of humor befitting Higashine, which proudly calls itself the Fruit Kingdom, and it is also popular as a photo spot for visitors. There is a shop selling local specialties in front of the station, making it easy to stop by for Higashine-only souvenirs.
Tips
It is a few minutes by car from the Great Zelkova of Higashine. Just admiring the station's exterior is enjoyable, so it also works well for a short stop.

About 40 minutes. The afternoon light makes the station's red exterior look vivid.
