A theme-park-like facility where you can experience the worlds of Miyazawa Kenji's fairy tales through buildings and exhibits scattered throughout a forest. The "Kenji's School" zone features fantastical displays using light and sound, designed so that even small children can enjoy the experience through all five senses. Simply strolling through the verdant grounds is pleasant, and it becomes a time to experience the realm of Kenji's imagination based on knowledge gained from the memorial hall.

花巻まつりは300年以上の歴史を誇る、岩手県内でも屈指の規模を持つ秋祭りです。2026年は9月11日から13日までの3日間、花巻市の中心市街地・上町からおまつり広場一帯を会場に開催されます。極彩色の彫刻と豪華な人形を飾った風流山車が街を練り歩き、勇壮な鹿踊りや神輿、郷土芸能が次々と登場する様子は圧巻。会場に隣接する花巻中央広場では14時から21時まで屋台村が開かれ、食べ歩きを楽しみながら祭りの熱気を味わえます。

Tips

会場周辺は夜になると交通規制がかかることがあるため、公共交通機関の利用がおすすめです。屋台村は現金対応の店が多いので小銭を用意しておくと安心。荒天時の開催可否は主催者の発表を確認してください。

Tips

Within walking distance of the Miyazawa Kenji Memorial Hall. Admission is required. The forest area may have many insects, so insect repellent is recommended.
