Touch Kenji's Life and Literary World Through His Cherished Cello and Manuscripts

A memorial museum on the hillside of Kosshio Mountain, associated with Kenji, introducing his life and literary world. The museum is organized by five fields—environment, faith, science, art, and agriculture—and from displays of his cherished cello and handwritten manuscripts, you can see the multifaceted side of Kenji, who was passionate not only about poetry and children's stories but also about agriculture and science. There are many ideas for elementary school children to enjoy intuitively through videos and dioramas, making you want to discuss with family what kind of person the author of "Undefeated by Rain" and "Night on the Galactic Railroad" was. Near the entrance, there is a restaurant designed to resemble the Cat Baron's restaurant from "Restaurant of Many Orders," popular as a photo spot.
Tips
About 2 minutes by car from the Miyazawa Kenji Doshinkan Fairytale Village; you can also walk via the footpath. The front stone steps number 367, so with children, it's easier to drive up to the upper parking lot. Some exhibits in the museum prohibit photography, so follow the guidance signs.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour. Before lunch is relatively relaxed, allowing you to visit before the afternoon crowds.
