The Mitsunari Atago Festival (三成愛宕祭) is a local festival held in the Mitsunari district of Okuizumo Town (奥出雲町), nestled in the Chugoku Mountains, in honor of Atago-sama (愛宕様), the deity beloved as a guardian against fire. According to Okuizumo Town's official tourism guide, it is held every year on August 24, and in 2026 that date falls on Monday, August 24. The event is organized mainly by local residents, and fireworks are dedicated at night. Fitting for a historic town that prospered through tatara ironmaking (たたら製鉄), you can feel the warmth of a festival deeply rooted in the community amid the calm air of this mountain village.
