Located at the ruins of Tsuwano Castle that once governed Tsuwano, this mountain castle is now marked only by stone walls. A lift takes you from the base to the mountainside, and walking further to reach the stone walls reveals a magnificent view overlooking the castle town with its white walls and moats stretching below. A fitting starting point for the course, offering perspectives on both the geography of Tsuwano Basin and the full scope of the town you'll explore.

つわの鯉・恋・来いまつりは、津和野を象徴する「鯉」の存在と、「恋」「来い」という言葉遊びを重ねた、ユニークな名前を持つ祭りです。2026年は8月29日、道の駅なごみの里を会場に開催され、地域の特産品を扱う露店や催しでにぎわいます。昼間にめぐった殿町通りの掘割の鯉を思い出しながら、家族の縁や絆を重ねて楽しめる、津和野らしい遊び心のある夏の締めくくりの祭りです。

The lift station is just a few minutes by car from the town center. Wear comfortable walking shoes for the mountain trail. Note that the lift may operate seasonally, so check ahead.
