An intimate Awa Odori in the town at the heart of Shikoku

About this spot

The Awa Odori held for 4 days from August 13-16 in Miyoshi City's Ikeda Town, positioned at the center of Shikoku and also called 'the navel of Shikoku.' Local dance groups gather in Hesouko Park and the streets around JR Ikeda Station, performing their dances in succession to the bells and drums. Unlike the large performance venues in Tokushima and Naruto cities, this town's Awa Odori has the charm of an intimate atmosphere with close audience proximity. Children often join the dance circles as spontaneous participants.
