This ancient temple, the 11th sacred site of the Shikoku Eighty-Eight Sacred Sites pilgrimage, welcomes many pilgrims. The wisteria trellis that gave the temple its name is said to be around 800 years old, and it offers visitors cool shade not only during its spring bloom but also beneath its lush summer greenery. A pilgrimage trail to Shozanji Temple continues from the back of the temple grounds, letting you sense the grand scale of the Shikoku pilgrimage. Pray for a safe day in the quiet temple grounds before setting off to explore the streets of Yoshinogawa City.
