The Awa Odori Dance Festival of Yoshinogawa City, Where Local Dance Groups Gather to Close Out the Summer
About this spot
The Awa Odori Dance Festival held on just one day in Yoshinogawa City along the Yoshinogawa River on August 16. Local dance groups gather along the station-front central avenue from 6 PM (18:00) to 9:30 PM (21:30), performing their dances to the rhythm of gongs and drums. Unlike the large-scale venues in Tokushima City or Naruto City, this intimate street venue brings dancers closer to the audience, naturally drawing children to clap along and shout encouragement. The warm atmosphere makes it particularly magical. Because you've already experienced history at Fujiidera and Kawashima Castle during the day, the heat and energy of the evening dance performances become even more memorable.
