This community-wide summer festival is held at Onishi Community Center in Onishi-cho, Imabari City. In 2026 it runs from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15 (held rain or light rain; in case of severe weather it will be postponed, with the new date announced on the official Instagram account). Food stalls line the community center's parking lot and grounds, filling the air with the scent of summer festival food and drink like yakisoba and shaved ice. From evening into night, circles of Bon dancing spread out, and people of all generations, from local children to adults, can be seen enjoying the festival together. As the finale to a day spent fully savoring the sea views at the gateway to the Shimanami Kaido, enjoy a warm summer night rooted in the local community.

Tips

The area around the venue gets crowded from the evening onward, so getting there on foot or by bicycle is recommended. Since food stalls generally require cash payment, it is reassuring to bring plenty of small change. The sea breeze can make the night feel cool, so a light jacket will help you stay comfortable.

Best time to visit

The festival starts at 4:00 p.m. After 6:00 p.m., when the food stalls light up and the Bon dancing picks up, is especially recommended.
