Leisurely Stroll Along the Riverside of Kanie, Once Called a Water Village
About this spot
A promenade built along the Kanie River flowing through the center of Kanie Town. This area was once called a water village, where water-based transportation and life were practiced. Even today, walking along the river allows you to feel the remnants of a town that lived with water. The Sunaoshi Festival we will visit tonight is also a festival where decorated festival floats called Sharaku boats advance along the river, and observing the river's appearance during the day makes the nighttime festival scene feel more memorable.

冨吉建速神社と八剱社の祭礼として400年以上続く須成祭は、国の重要無形民俗文化財にも指定されている由緒ある夏祭りです。2026年は8月1日(土)・2日(日)の開催で、その初日を訪れます。夜になると提灯で飾られた車楽船が蟹江川をゆっくりと進み、川面に映る無数の灯りが幻想的な景色をつくり出します。木曽三川流域の水郷ならではの祭りの形を、家族でじっくりと眺めることができる貴重な機会です。屋台の有無は年によって異なるため、この日は事前に済ませた夕食を思い出しながら、静かに川祭りの雰囲気を味わうのがおすすめです。
Tips
川沿いの見物スペースは限られるため、早めの場所取りが安心です。夜は足元が暗くなるため、懐中電灯やスマートフォンのライトがあると安心です。周辺は交通規制がかかることがあるため、公共交通機関や徒歩でのアクセスがおすすめです。
Tips
The promenade is paved and easy to walk, but some sections have limited shade, so in summer a hat or parasol is reassuring. As evening approaches, insects such as mosquitoes may increase, so insect repellent is helpful. The walkway width allows for stroller passage without issues.
Best time to visit
Duration approximately 40 minutes. Afternoon hours when the sunlight is slightly reduced are easier to walk.
