About this spot

This waterside spot lies along the Kanie River, which flows through the center of Kanie Town. This area was once known as a water town, where boat transport and daily life along the river were once a way of life. Even today, walking along the river lets you sense traces of a town that once lived alongside the water. The Suenari Festival you'll visit tonight is also a festival in which decorated boats called dashi boats move along the river, so taking a look at the river during the day will make the scene of the night festival feel all the more memorable.

Tips

The promenade is paved and easy to walk, but some sections offer little shade, so a hat or parasol is reassuring in summer. Mosquitoes and other insects can increase as evening approaches, so insect repellent will help you stay comfortable. The path is wide enough to walk with a stroller without any trouble.

Best time to visit

About 40 minutes. The afternoon, when the sunlight softens a bit, is easier for walking.
