A shopping street that spreads through the Furucho area, which has prospered as the center of Niigata since the Edo period. Long-established Japanese sweet shops and clothing stores still line the street, allowing you to feel the historic commercial culture of Niigata as it developed as a port town. As the festival draws near, the entire shopping street gradually takes on the atmosphere of the festival, building anticipation for heading to the evening venue.

During the festival period, it becomes crowded from the evening, so taking a leisurely stroll during these calmer hours is recommended. Some long-established sweet shops may also carry refreshing summer treats. Many shops focus on cash payment, so make sure to have coins ready.
