About this spot

This is a rare natural phenomenon where countless hexagonal rocks, formed when lava cooled and solidified, spread across the coastline like a laid-out tatami mat. At low tide, you can walk on the rocks for a close-up view, and the regular geometric patterns are designated as a Natural Monument of Okinawa Prefecture. It's conveniently located along with other northern Kumejima tourist spots like Meefugaa.

久米島町のふれあい公園を会場に、毎年9月上旬に開催される島最大級の祭りです。2026年は9月5日・6日の2日間で開催予定。地元の青年会によるエイサー演舞やパレード、多彩な芸能ステージが繰り広げられ、島に暮らす人も観光客も一体となって夏の終わりを盛大に祝います。離島ならではのアットホームな雰囲気の中、太鼓の音とともに島全体が熱気に包まれる一日です。

Tips

会場周辺の駐車場には限りがあるため、早めの来場が安心です。夜でも蒸し暑さが残るので、水分補給を忘れずに。フェリーや飛行機で来島する場合は、最終便の時間を事前に確認しておきましょう。
