An ancient cherry tree with the rare characteristic of producing flowers for most of the year, designated as a National Natural Monument. Even in midsummer, flowers can occasionally be seen on branch tips, and because of this strange charm of out-of-season cherry blossoms, it has been treasured by local people since ancient times. The grounds are modest in size, making it appealing for a quiet visit.

米原市の清滝山で、お盆の時期に山の中腹の松明に火が灯される伝統行事です。2026年は8月15日の16時30分頃からの点火が予定されています。麓の集落からは、夕暮れに浮かび上がる炎の姿がはっきりと望め、先祖の霊を送る送り火としての意味合いを持つとされています。近江の里山に古くから伝わる、静かで趣深い夏の締めくくりの行事です。
Tips
山の中腹での点火のため、麓の見晴らしのよい場所から鑑賞するのが基本です。周辺は道幅が狭いところもあるため、駐車場所には十分注意しましょう。日没後は足元が暗くなるため、懐中電灯があると安心です。

About 10 minutes by car from Seiganjji Temple. The flowering varies depending on the season, so it's best to approach with the mindset of enjoying its simple charm rather than having high expectations.
Best time to visit
Takes about 30 minutes. There's shade even in peak summer, making it suitable for a brief rest.
