Panoramic Views of Nanao Bay from the Former Seat of the Hatakeyama Clan
About this spot
This is the remains of a mountain castle built by the Hatakeyama clan, regional governors of Noto, during the Muromachi period, and is counted among Japan's Five Great Mountain Castles—a historic site of great significance. From the main citadel ruins at the top of a steep mountain trail, you can see a panoramic view of Nanao Bay and Noto Island floating beyond, allowing visitors to appreciate how strategically important this castle was at the time. Stone walls and the remains of fortification terraces remain intact as they were, making this a worthwhile spot even for history-loving families.

Venue:
Tips
Tips
While there is a road by which you can drive up to the main citadel, some sections are narrow, so drive carefully. Some areas of the observation space have few railings, so families with small children should watch their footing.
