Enshrined on the slopes of Kanegasaki Mountain, this shrine has deep historical ties to Tsuruga. From the shrine grounds, you can overlook Tsuruga Port and the city skyline, allowing you to spend a peaceful time from the quiet hilltop. Although known as a cherry blossom viewing spot, visits during verdant seasons are equally pleasant. Recommended as a place to rest a bit before the festival begins and to prepare your heart for the excitement ahead.

北陸道総鎮守として古くから信仰を集める氣比神宮を中心に、9月2日から5日までの4日間にわたって行われる敦賀の秋を代表する祭りです。氣比神宮を舞台に山車や神輿が巡行し、太鼓の音とともに街全体が祭り一色に染まります。大きな鳥居をくぐって進む行列の様子は迫力があり、地域の歴史と信仰の深さを感じさせてくれます。初日となるこの日は、4日間続く祭りの幕開けの熱気を存分に味わえます。
Tips
会場周辺は夜間交通規制がかかることがあるため、公共交通機関の利用がおすすめです。境内や参道は夜になると多くの人で混み合うので、小さなお子さん連れははぐれないよう気をつけましょう。

Driving from Tsuruga Station is convenient. There are gentle slopes leading to the shrine grounds, so wear comfortable shoes.
