A historic temple connected to Nara's Omizutori and the 'Omizuokuri' water blessing ritual

About this spot

A historic temple representing Wakasa, deeply connected to the Omizutori ceremony (Shunie) at Todai-ji Temple in Nara. Known for the annual 'Omizuokuri' ritual performed in March, it maintains a legendary connection over a thousand years old—the water from Wakasa is sent to Nara to bless the Great Buddha. Nestled in a quiet mountain valley surrounded by towering trees, the temple grounds, with their historic structures, evoke the ancient story connecting Wakasa and Nara.
