Elaborately decorated festival floats unique to each neighborhood parade through the town, and with the sounds of drums and flutes, the entire city of Obama is engulfed in the festival spirit. True to Obama's legacy as a thriving port town, the float designs and procession rituals passed down by the shrine's parishioners carry the region's pride and the weight of tradition. On this opening day, you can fully immerse yourself in the vibrant energy that marks the beginning of this two-day celebration.

Tips

Evening traffic restrictions may be in place around the venue, so using public transportation is recommended. The shrine grounds and surrounding areas become crowded at night, so if you're with small children, take care not to get separated.

Best time to visit

After sunset when the floats' lanterns light up, 6 PM and beyond offers the most impressive views.
