Held at the Kawara Town General Sports Park, this annual summer Bon Odori festival is a community-wide celebration. About 30 night stalls line the venue, offering the lively atmosphere typical of a summer festival, with goldfish scooping and shaved ice among the attractions. Around the central yagura stage, local residents of all generations gather in a dancing circle, filled with the warm, homely atmosphere unique to Kawara Town. Watching the sun set behind the three peaks of Mt. Kawarayama is also a beautiful sight found only here.
