Visit the Heian-period Amidado Hall designated as a National Treasure

About this spot

One of the few National Treasure buildings remaining in the Tohoku region, built in the late Heian period. The Amidado Hall standing in front of a Pure Land garden pond is a precious architectural work that conveys the worldview of Pure Land Buddhism of that era, presenting a serene appearance throughout the seasons. Inside the hall are enshrined Buddhist statues, including the principal image of Amida Tathagata, allowing you to experience its high historical value up close. It is known as a historically significant attraction in Iwaki's sightseeing.
