This shopping street extends from Noshiro Station and features local restaurants and shops, serving as the heart of Noshiro. As evening approaches and the festival begins, it gradually becomes busier with people eating before heading to the venue. Having a meal here before heading to the mouth of the Yoneshiro River will prepare you for the long evening and night of viewing.

能代市街地から米代川河口付近を舞台に、2026年8月6日(木)・7日(金)の2日間、15時40分から22時15分まで開かれる伝統行事です。武者絵などが描かれた巨大な灯籠人形「役七夕」が街を練り歩いたのち、最後は米代川河口へと運ばれます。夜が更けるにつれて、無病息災を願って川面に灯籠を流す「ねぶながし」が行われ、暗い川面に浮かぶ灯りの列が幻想的な光景をつくり出します。日中に松原や科学館、歴史的建築をめぐって能代の街を知った1日の締めくくりに、この地に伝わる夏の伝統行事をじっくり味わいましょう。
Tips
河口付近は夜になると足元が見えにくくなるため、懐中電灯があると安心です。会場周辺は交通規制がかかることがあるため、公共交通機関の利用も検討しましょう。虫よけがあると夜の観覧が快適です。
