Dancers sway to the spirited Yagibushi songs and drums on Hon-machi Street's evening
About this spot
Gunma's signature folk song, Yagibushi, and the beat of drums echo through the entire Hon-machi Street in this major summer event celebrating Kiryu. Running August 7-9, 2026, the street becomes pedestrian-only from day one and fills with crowds. Dancers in yukata form one circle after another, swaying to the brisk rhythm, and onlookers can't help but clap along. As night deepens and lights illuminate the street, the festive energy intensifies, and you'll experience a vibrant summer night uniquely Kiryu.
