Castle Ruins Park with Remaining Turret and Eastern Gate of the Takasaki Domain

A park built on the ruins of Takasaki Castle, where the Takasaki domain's government was located during the Edo period. Although the main tower no longer stands, the relocated and restored Inu-Yagura turret and Eastern Gate convey the appearance of that era. A verdant walking trail along the moat serves as a gathering place for residents. The park is spacious and open, allowing for a leisurely stroll even in the summer sun by choosing shaded areas. It is the perfect starting point for a city tour where you can experience the history of Takasaki, which developed as a castle town.

群馬県内でも屈指の規模を誇る都市祭りで、中心市街地一帯を舞台に総踊りや山車の巡行、各種パレードなどが繰り広げられます。2026年は8月22日・23日の2日間開催され、法被姿の踊り手たちが軽快な音楽に合わせて通りを踊り歩く総踊りは祭りいちばんの見どころです。夜には花火が打ち上げられる年もあり、都市の中心で夏の熱気を存分に味わえる祭りとして地元でも人気があります。日が暮れるにつれて通りは提灯や照明で彩られ、家族連れから若者まで幅広い世代で賑わいます。
Tips
屋台の出店情報は確認できていないため、夕食はもてなし広場周辺で事前に済ませておくと安心です。中心市街地は広範囲で交通規制がかかるため、公共交通機関の利用が便利です。荒天時のプログラム変更は高崎市の公式情報で確認しましょう。

About 15 minutes on foot from Takasaki Station. The Gunma Music Center is just nearby, so it's recommended to at least view its exterior.
Best time to visit
About 50 minutes. During strong sunlight, choosing the shaded trail along the moat provides comfort.
