Omura Park, developed from the ruins of Kushima Castle—the seat of the Omura clan—preserves the legacy of the castle, once called the 'Floating Castle' due to its unique location jutting into the sea. The park features remaining water moats and stone walls, with the Omura Shrine and Omura Gokoku Shrine nestled among verdant walking paths. Known as a seasonal flower destination year-round, summer's abundant shade makes it ideal for leisurely strolls while staying cool. The view of Omura Bay from the castle grounds is also worth seeing.

大村市のJR大村駅前通り、通称「夏越夢通り」と中央商店街一帯を舞台に開かれる「おおむら夏越まつり」の本まつりです。2026年は8月2日(日)から3日(月)にかけて開催され、通り沿いには夜市の夜店が軒を連ね、提灯の灯りに照らされた商店街が夏いちばんの賑わいに包まれます。このコースでは初日である8月2日の夜を主役に据えています。昼間に巡った大村公園や本経寺で城下町の歴史に触れたあと、日が傾く頃に夜市へ繰り出すという、大村の夏を丸ごと味わえる流れです。夜店をひやかしながら歩くだけでも、家族で夏祭りらしい時間を過ごせます。
Tips
祭り当日は駅前通りが歩行者天国になり、車両の乗り入れが規制される場合があります。公共交通機関の利用が安心です。夜店の出店内容や営業時間は年により変わるため、最新情報は現地または公式案内で確認しましょう。小さな子ども連れは人混みではぐれないよう手をつないで歩くと安心です。

It's within walking distance of JR Omura Station. The park's gentle terrain makes for easy walking, but in summer, choose shaded routes and times to avoid the strongest heat. Parking is well-equipped throughout the grounds.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 50 minutes. Early afternoon is often quieter, making for a more leisurely exploration.
