Fan and Constructed Neputa Floats Parade—Tsugaru's Summer Spectacular

About this spot

From August 1-7, 2026, this summer tradition alternates between the Tetsudo-cho and Station-front courses. On opening day, August 1, the Tetsudo-cho course hosts warrior-painted fan-shaped 'uchiwa neputa' and elaborately constructed 'kumi neputa' in succession. Accompanied by flutes, drums, and hand gongs, the parade echoes with shouts of 'Yaa-Yado!' as illuminated floats slowly move through the night castle town—a sight to behold. Unlike Aomori's nebuta festival, Hirosaki's neputa combines bold warrior imagery with delicate craftsmanship.
