Giant Tanbo Art - A Canvas of Rice Paddies That Changes Each Year

Known as the birthplace of 'Tanbo Art,' this rest stop features rice paddies painted with different crop varieties. From the observation tower, perspective-based giant designs come into view, and with new themes each year, every visit brings fresh discoveries. A local farmers' market is on-site, convenient for rest breaks and souvenir shopping.

2026年は7月30日から8月5日まで開催される、黒石市の夏を彩るねぷたまつりです。御幸公園を出発点に、扇形の灯籠を掲げたねぷたが笛・太鼓のお囃子とともに市街地をゆっくりと練り歩きます。弘前や五所川原の勇壮な大型ねぷたとは違い、地元の町内会や子どもたちが担ぐ手作り感のある山車が多く、こみせ通りの落ち着いた町並みとねぷたの灯りが調和する、津軽の小さな城下町らしい温かな夏祭りです。
Tips
御幸公園周辺は開始前から見物客で賑わいます。良い場所で見たい場合は16時台から公園周辺で待つと安心です。祭り期間中は周辺道路が一部通行止めになることがあります。
Tips
About 15 minutes by car from Kuroishi city center. The observation tower is reached by climbing high floors of a castle-like building. Summer sun is intense, so bring water for the walk up.

Duration: approximately 1 hour. Afternoon light beautifully highlights the green rice paddies.
