Exploring a Historic Wooden Arcade Town from the Edo Period
About this spot
Komise is a historic wooden arcade built to allow passage through snow and rain in snowy Tsugaru. Designated as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings, it is lined with established sake breweries and shops. In summer, the covered walkway offers pleasant shade and cool relief—a place to experience Tsugaru's traditional wisdom of living.
Season & hours
Name:
Date & time: 7/30 (Thu)–8/5 (Wed) Time TBA
Venue:
Tips
Tips
About 15 minutes by car from Michi-no-Eki Inakashikatamura. The street has stone and wooden flooring—wear comfortable shoes. It's also a local living space, so please observe proper etiquette.
Best time to visit
Duration: approximately 50 minutes. Even on intense afternoons, the covered street stays cool.
