This is a Japanese garden representative of the Tsugaru region, designated a National Place of Scenic Beauty. The building on the grounds, Seibikan (盛美館), is an unusual blend of Japanese and Western architecture, with a purely Japanese-style first floor and a Western-style balcony on the second floor, creating a unique atmosphere together with the garden. Walking through the meticulously maintained strolling pond garden, you can spend a quiet moment sensing the richness of Tsugaru's wealthy farming culture.
Tips
Just about a 5-minute drive from Saruga Shrine. The garden has well-maintained paths that are easy to walk, but some areas have little shade, so take sun precautions in summer. An admission fee is required.
Best time to visit
About 50 minutes. The soft afternoon light shows off the garden's greenery beautifully.
