A historic site preserving the house where Shimizu Jiro-cho, a masterless samurai who thrived from the late Edo period through the Meiji era, was born and raised. The small wooden house displays materials showing how people lived at that time, allowing visitors to trace the footsteps of a figure indispensable to the history of the port town of Shimizu. Located in a quiet corner not overly touristy, it's a perfect size for a brief stop during your town walk.

2026年は7月31日から8月2日まで開催される、清水港を挙げての夏祭りです。初日は18時45分から、2日目以降は18時30分から、清水駅前から港橋にかけてのさつき通りで「港かっぽれ総おどり」が繰り広げられます。法被や浴衣に身を包んだ踊り手たちが軽快な「かっぽれ」の音頭に合わせて練り歩き、沿道を埋める観客も一緒に手拍子で盛り上がります。港町ならではの開放的な雰囲気の中、21時の終演まで熱気の絶えない時間が続きます。
Tips
さつき通り沿いは開始前から見物客で賑わうため、良い場所で見たい場合は18時前には到着しておくと安心です。周辺道路は交通規制がかかるので公共交通機関の利用がおすすめです。
