About this spot

One of the largest summer festivals in the Izu region, held August 15–17 in 2026 to coincide with Mishima Taisha's annual grand festival. Along Mishima Odori (三島大通り), which runs from in front of Mishima Taisha to in front of Mishima-Hirokoji Station, elaborately carved, gorgeous floats parade to the accompaniment of festival music called shagiri, while powerful hand-held fireworks send pillars of flame into the night sky. The street, filled with the sound of Mishima festival music and brimming with excitement, is packed with spectators, making it a major event symbolizing summer in Mishima, the city of water.

Tips

People begin claiming spots along the main street well before it starts. Because hand-held fireworks can send sparks flying, follow staff instructions and keep a safe distance while watching. Large-scale traffic restrictions are in effect in the surrounding area, so using public transportation is recommended.

Best time to visit

Starts at 17:00. The nighttime climax, when the hand-held fireworks go up, is especially spectacular
