In this spirited event, the community is divided into east and west teams who pull on a thick rope, and the roadside erupts with cheers as local strongmen give it their all. With a long history, this event symbolizes community unity and marks the close of summer, making it a festival unique to Tosa City. Staged on a nighttime street, the intense tug-of-war offers plenty of exciting spectacle for the whole family to enjoy.

Traffic restrictions are in place around the venue on the day, so it's best to arrive by public transportation or on foot.
