About this spot

This observation deck, set up on the terminal building of Kagoshima Airport, is a popular spot for watching planes take off and land up close. Watching flights connecting to destinations across Kyushu and major cities nationwide is powerful enough to captivate not only children who love airplanes but adults too. The terminal also has shops and restaurants, and being able to cool off in the air-conditioned interior is a welcome perk in summer.

Tips

The observation deck is free to use. The outdoor deck can get hot during summer daytime, so viewing through the indoor windows is also a good option. The parking lot is shared with airport users, so it can get crowded at certain times.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. Around midday, when flight frequency is higher, there are more chances to see takeoffs and landings.
