Festival Opens at Noon on the First Day – Fully Enjoy a Summer Festival Coloring the Port Town for a Day
About this spot
The 2026 "Satsuma Black Current Kibarankai Makurazaki Port Festival" will be held from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM on August 1 (Sat.) and August 2 (Sun.) around Makurazaki Port. For this course, we've structured the day around the first day when the festival opens. The area around Makurazaki Port—known as one of Japan's premier bonito flake production regions and as a base for deep-sea fishing—is enveloped in an unusual bustling activity during the festival. With the festival running long hours from noon opening to 10 PM closing, the appeal of this festival is that families can choose their own pace—whether to visit during cooler daytime hours or to spend time leisurely from evening onward. From evening onward when the venue lights come on, you can enjoy the calm nighttime atmosphere unique to a port town.

Tips
Traffic control and parking congestion are expected around the venue on the day, so head out with time to spare. Verify the presence of food stalls and day's activities with the venue's information board or official information. For families with small children, visiting during cooler daytime hours allows for comfortable enjoyment. At night, the coastal breeze can make it cool, so bringing something to wear is recommended.
