About this spot

Located in Nobeoka City, Miyazaki Prefecture, this renowned waterfall is one of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls. Its powerful cascade drops about 77 meters straight down the sheer rock face of Mount Mukabaki, and it has long been cherished as a local scenic spot. A walking path has been built up to near the base of the falls, letting visitors experience the cool spray and thundering roar up close. Even during the hottest hours of summer, the area around the falls stays wrapped in cool air, making it a perfect place for families to cool off.

Tips

It's about a few minutes' walk from the parking lot to the waterfall viewing spot. Since there are rocky and wet sections along the way, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. There are many insects in summer, so bug spray is a good idea.

Best time to visit

About 40 minutes. The area around the falls stays cool even during the hours of strongest sunshine.
