Lovers' Hill (恋人の丘)

Flow of the course

About this spot

This shrine, enshrined in the Nango area of Misato Town, is a place of worship deeply rooted in the community as a site tied to Hyuga mythology. Surrounded by lush groves, the grounds stay cool even in summer, and simply walking the quiet approach gives a sense of being cut off from everyday bustle. This place has deep ties to the Otaue Festival (御田祭), the very namesake of Otaue Festival Village; getting a feel for the history and culture of the land that will host tonight's fireworks display deepens your feelings toward the festival all the more. The green of the trees on the grounds, lit by summer light, is beautiful, and it's a good spot for a memorial photo too.

Tips

Worship is free. The grounds have gravel paths and steps, so wearing comfortable walking shoes is recommended. Please remain considerate of others in the quiet grounds. It's about a 15-minute drive to the Otaue Festival Village Community Plaza (御田祭の里ふれあい広場).

Best time to visit

Allow about 1 hour. The afternoon hours, when dappled sunlight lights up the grounds, are especially beautiful, and crowds are calmer.
