A park developed from the ruins of Tanagura Castle, built in the early Edo period, and affectionately known as "Kamegajiro Park" locally. While the castle tower no longer stands, the water-filled moat and stone walls remain as reminders of that era, showcasing the serene appearance characteristic of flat-land castles. Also known as a famous cherry blossom viewing spot, the tree-filled park provides pleasant shade for summer walks. Within this quiet park, you can trace the echoes of the era when Tanagura flourished as a castle town.
Tips
The location has parking and is easily accessible by car. The path along the moat is mostly paved and easy to walk, though some sections have little shade, so remember to stay hydrated.
