About this spot

This winery in Ohasama-cho, Hanamaki City has been making wine exclusively from Iwate-grown grapes since its founding in 1962. Ohasama is a grape-growing region with a climate similar to France's Bordeaux region, and the large swings between warm and cool temperatures benefit the grapes. At the adjoining direct-sales shop, Wine Chateau Ohasama (ワインシャトー大迫), you can find almost the full lineup of the winery's own wines, and you can also observe the winemaking process. In the clear morning air, this is a stop where you can experience another side of Ohasama, set against a peaceful, mountain-village landscape.

Tips

About 15 minutes by car from Dai Onsen. Opening hours are limited in the early morning, so your visit will mainly consist of a stroll to enjoy the exterior and the vineyard views.
