A verdant park adjoining Takimiya Shrine, known for its connections to Sugawara no Michizane during his time as governor of Sanuki Province. While bustling in spring for cherry blossom viewing, summer's lush greenery creates pleasant shade for taking a break during shrine exploration. Located right next to the shrine where the Nenbutsu Dance will be performed, you can get a feel for the atmosphere beforehand.

2026年8月23日、国の重要無形民俗文化財に指定された「滝宮の念仏踊り」が滝宮神社と滝宮天満宮の両社で奉納されます。平安時代、讃岐国司だった菅原道真が日照りに苦しむ人々のために祈った雨乞いが成就したことに由来すると伝わり、以来千年以上にわたって地域の人々によって大切に受け継がれてきました。揃いの衣装をまとった踊り手たちが太鼓や鉦、法螺貝の音色に合わせて勇壮に踊る姿は、香川に息づく祈りの伝統芸能を今に伝えています。
Tips
奉納は毎年8月下旬に一度だけ行われる貴重な機会です。境内は日陰が少ないため、日差し対策をしっかりして見学しましょう。踊り手や関係者の妨げにならないよう、見学場所は係員の案内に従ってください。
Tips
About 10 minutes by car from Kaitenyama Tumulus. Takimiya Shrine and Takimiya Tenmangū are within walking distance. The abundant shade makes this a comfortable place even in summer.
Best time to visit
Approximately 40 minutes. You can spend leisure time in the shade even during the hot afternoon hours.
