A morning stroll beside the clear waters of the gorge
About this spot
The Kiyotaki River (清滝川) is a clear mountain stream flowing through the Takao and Umegahata area, set in quiet scenery ringed by mountains. Some stretches along the river have walking paths, making it just right for an unhurried walk in the cool morning hours. Even in summer the breeze through the gorge is refreshingly cool, so it also works well as a warm-up stroll before swimming. It is a place to spend time in rich nature, a little away from the bustle of central Kyoto.
Tips
Some spots are slippery underfoot with rocks and moss, so wear comfortable walking shoes. Parking is limited, so arriving early makes it easier to find a space.
