This ancient temple has a history stretching back to the Edo period and is counted among Hokkaido's three great temples. The lush grounds have a calm atmosphere, and the view from the rise overlooking Funka Bay is another attraction. It is just the right size for spending a quiet stretch of time before getting on the obstacle course. You can walk around unhurriedly as a family while admiring the historic buildings.
Tips
Strolling the grounds is free. Parking is limited in number, so arriving early is reassuring. There are also spots overlooking Funka Bay, making it good for commemorative photos.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. The morning, when there are fewer people, is easiest for an unhurried look around
