About this spot

This is Hirakata City's central library, standing right beside Kurumazuka Park. It is close enough to drop into before playing in the fountain, making it just the right place to let the hottest start of the afternoon pass in air-conditioned comfort. The children's book section is well stocked, so it is easy to fall into a rhythm of reading one picture book before heading outside. There are also materials on the city's history and on Hirakata-shuku (枚方宿), so you can look up in a book what you saw along the old highway that morning. Since it is a place for quiet, it also works as a cool-down before excitement builds for the water play.

Tips

Check closing days and opening hours in advance. Most areas inside prohibit eating and drinking, so hydrate before or after your visit. To avoid bringing in wet swimwear and belongings, it is best to visit the library before the water play.
