Next stop: A spin on the Ferris wheel and the merry-go-roundAbout this spot
This museum introduces the history and daily life of Anjo City. The highlight is the exhibit on how the Meiji Canal (明治用水) was drawn through this once water-poor land, transforming it into a rich agricultural region. Looking at models of the waterways and farm tools of the day, parent and child can follow how the farmland scenery spread out today came to be. The exhibition rooms are compact, so even small children can make a full circuit while their concentration lasts, which is just right. Indoors and air-conditioned, it lets you spend the morning cool before the sun grows strong. Water is the star of this day too, so you can begin from a shared entry point, namely the relationship between water and people.
Tips
Fees and opening arrangements can differ between the permanent exhibition and special exhibitions, so check the official website before you set out. There are set closing days. It is a place to be quiet in, so a word to small children beforehand keeps things smooth.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour and 10 minutes. The morning, before the sun grows strong, is most comfortable
